چکیده

Abstract Background Radiotherapy of gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma should be delivered to the entire stomach with planning target volume (PTV) that accounts for variations in volume, respiratory movement, and patient set-up error. In this study, we evaluated whether use four-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (4D-CBCT) reduces PTV. Methods Eight patients underwent radiotherapy 15 fractions MALT using 4D-CBCT. PTV structures 5–30 mm margins (5 intervals) from clinical (CTV) delineated based on 4D-CT images (CTV-4D) were generated. For localization, performed matching skin marking (skin matching), bone anatomy (bone (4D soft-tissue matching) registration between CT 4D-CBCT 10 phases. each patient, calculated covering ratio (CR) variable structures, images, a total 150 phases [CR (%) = (number phases/150 phases) × 100], three localization methods. We compared CR values different methods defined an average ≥ 95% all patients. Results The increased 17.9 100%, 19.6 99.8%, 33.8 skin, bone, 4D matchings, respectively, as 5 30 mm. obtained by was superior ( P 0.013) 0.008) structure margin. required additional margin 20 (average CR: 95.2%), 25 99.1%), 98.0%) CTV-4D respectively. Conclusions This study demonstrates when applying matching, matchings. Additionally, does not reduce traditional matching.

Target-specific optimization of four-dimensional cone beam computed tomography.

PURPOSE Under-sampling artifacts are a major problem in four-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (4D-CBCT) and may compromise evaluation of target motion. Several studies have addressed scan parameter selection for minimizing under-sampling artifacts; however, the role of the target characteristics in scan parameter selection has not been investigated. In this work, the authors evaluated ...

A Phantom Study on Target Localization Accuracy Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the 3-dimensional target localization accuracy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) using an on-board imager (OBI). An anthropomorphic pelvis phantom was used to simulate a range of offsets in the three translational directions and rotations around each of the three axes. After a translational or rotational offset was applied, a CBCT scan of the phant...

Radiotherapy for localized gastric mucosa–associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma: long-term outcomes over 10 years

This study aimed to assess the long-term outcomes of radiotherapy in patients with localized gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Twenty-seven patients with Stage I gastric MALT lymphoma were treated with radiotherapy from 1999 to 2010. The median age was 65 years (range: 31-84). Fifteen patients were Helicobacter pylori-negative. Thirteen patients were treated with defini...

Intestinal dissemination of gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma.

Despite increasing identification of concurrent gastric and intestinal lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), the clonal relationship between the two tumors and their sequential development are poorly understood. It is also unknown whether the development of these concurrent tumors is closely associated with direct antigen stimulation, which is thought to play an important role ...

Recurrence after radiotherapy for gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma with trisomy 18.

A 36-year-old Japanese woman presented with extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphoma) in the stomach. The gastric lesions only partially improved after eradication therapy for Helicobacter pylori. A fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis revealed no fusion genes of API2-MALT1, although trisomy of chromosome 18 was identified. Radiation therapy w...
